Electoral College
The Presidential Election is not determined by popular vote, it is determined by the Electoral College. With the Electoral College each state has a certain amount of electoral votes, this number is determined by the states representatives in Congress. When a candidate wins a state they get the amount of electoral votes the state is worth. To win an election with the Electoral College you must receive 270 electoral votes to win the election.

- President Salary- $400,000/year
- Vice-President Salary- $230,700/year

Roles of the President
- Chief of State- The president is an inspirational symbol for the American people.
- Chief Executive- Decides how the laws will be enforced and chooses officials and advisers to help him in the Executive Branch.
- Chief Diplomat- Makes foreign policy for the United States and meets with leaders of other countries.
- Commander in Chief-Commander of the Armed Forces.
- Chief Legislator- Has the power to influence laws passed by Congress and can veto legislature.
- Chief of Party- Helps members of his party get elected into office.
- Chief Guardian of the Economy- Concerned with issues such as high prices, unemployment, taxes, business profits, and the general prosperity of the country. The president cannot control the economy but can help it run smoothly
